4:30 pm,
View of the nest. They were not playing as you can see from the blood on the snow.

Hope they are okay. Sad

Those pics were spectacular and the eagle was not putting up with an intruder or losing its food that is for sure. I too hope they are ok. I will watch that nest as I can.

Checked at raptor resource and a poster there believes one eagle had prey and was not going to share it. The squabble erupted and finally the one eagle came back into the nest to finish eating. Hope with all the snow and cold there that they can find enough food.

Would rather not view scenes like this; however, it is what happens in the wild.

Confrontation

Cal...Thanks for that video. I don't know who the eagle on the right side of the picture is for sure. It looks too big to be Dad...maybe a rival female for the nest?? The larger one on the left/front was the female from this nest. She has distinctive coloration around her eyes. As you may know I covered this nest last year and had lots of practice identifying her...Grin

Here is our beautiful, fierce looking Mom! Red Heart Notice the darkish coloring near her eyes.

Two more pics showing how the blood got on the nest....

Click on image to download food(fish?) on the left side of the nest. This might be Dad..I don't see the dark around the eyes.

I really don't think any eagle blood was spilled during that little spat over a piece of fish...especially if it was Dad there with Mom...I think it was!! Smile I have seen other pairs argue over a tasty morsel.
