Yesterday morning, the male (I think!) came in for a shift on the egg. Female left. Male picked up a large forked stick and began dragging it around the nest, sweeping it right over the nest bowl! Faint I was afraid he was going to whack the egg. Finally, he settled down and began brooding.

I am not sure which is Mom and which is Dad; please correct my ID's if I get this wrong...

Grin MayLine, Nice to meet you!

re: forum/viewtopic.php?topic=154472#154472

In reply to your link above, your egg picture certainly rivals a faberge imperial egg!
Thank You

BTW, Mom Decorah seems to wear eye shadow. A pic of her in my 3rd s'cap below. Not to worry - it is not always easy to tell the difference.

wave Hi Cal04, nice to meet you also! Thanks for the "eye-shadow" hint. I can tell the two apart, just wasn't sure which was which. I have noticed the darker eye surround so I guess that is Mom. Please correct my ID assumptions if they're wrong. Thank You

My best guess: Mom right now on the nest?

Dad?

Does this pair have names? Knowing the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum is in Decorah, I think of them as Lena & Ole Titter

:hello: Dede...nice to see you here in our "Decorah nest". Your ID of the two parents in your last two scaps os absolutely correct!! Clapping Mom has all those grayish small feathers around her eyes and Dad has a dark circle around his eyes...I call it his eyeliner. Grin These parents are probably the easiest of all the nests to ID...as long as you can see their faces. Those are some really nice scaps you posted here--I really enjoyed the "egg cooling" ones. I hope you will visit often. Your names for them are too funny and cute! love I don't think they have names .....we just call them mom and Dad.

ETS Don't you just LOVE the close-ups from the PTZ camera????? Wub

Hi Mary,
My husband being of Norwegian descent we have been aware of the Lena and Ole jokes....
Lena & Ole seem fitting after reading above about the family spat these eagles had Titter

To quote a website:
"Ole and Lena jokes are related to Sven and Ole jokes. Ole and Lena have been married for years, and sometimes they don't get along so good." :p
