I saw an eagle on the nest tonight and wondered. Great news!!

These parents are so fun to watch. They were so patient last year.

Congratulations Decorah Family! Thank you for the egg alert, Soph!

For those interested in the PTZ cam, here is a quote from RRP:

"Who does the panning, tilting, and zooming, and when does that happen?
Bob Anderson, Executive Director of RRP, switches to the PTZ cam most days between about 9 and 10 a.m., and when there appears to be interesting activity in the nest. He will be especially attentive when egg-laying and hatching begin, from late February."

Note: Decorah, Iowa, is CST.

Good Morning! I have been watching this nest and did not know until this morning that there was an HWF Discussion Page for the Decorah Nest! Thank you MaryF for sending me the link. I was watching as the female laid her egg on Wednesday. I posted it immediately on the Sportsman Paradise Online "chat" (I was so excited I signed up and made my very first post on that chat when I saw the egg!) Anyway that's the camera I have been watching....

The female was sitting sort of fluffed up in the same spot for quite a while, head down, and seemed very focussed. I suspected what she was about, and as soon as she moved I scrambled to take these quick s'caps. The egg is about 1 minute old in these 2 s'caps Smile For the record, I thought I should post them over here:

Just before the egg was laid, around 5:50 PM CST on Wed., I was taking pics of the pair working on the nest bowl. In the third s'cap, I think this is the female (?) picking at a dried out prey which the male may have brought. This not too long before she squatted down over the nest bowl and got serious about producing an egg!
