Hello Ladies...
Hello
I have been kind of AWOL... not just here but in Screech Hollow too. Sometimes I just have to put my priorties in order. LOL Sometimes I spend too much time on the computer and I get mad at myself for it.

Not sure why nothing has been said here in the Daily Beat thread. There have been 'copy right' issues with some of the photos we all post on the HWF site. I guess a few of them have been brought to the attention to the HWF... so we are told. I have copied and pasted 2 statements. I hope the links work. I will know when I send this post. If they dont work I will try again.

me again... looks like the links will work.

Not sure but one or 2 of the threads have decided to go throgh and delete the photos... only a mod or person from the HWF can do this. I think us ourselves only have either 24 or 48 hrs to delete our own posts. We... at Screech Hollow voted to just delete the entire thread and start a new one. Sad Cry but it is easier.
We all have our own personal photos saved in our own files anyway. Just givng you a heads up in case the HWF... usually JudyB makes a visit there.

have a good day...

Diane....I had been aware of this problem through our Volunteer area and contacted Elaine by PM to have her check to see if she can post pics from the Cheezeburger site legally. Other than that I think we are OK as most of us post only personal pictures. Do you know about the little greetings that you post? I have never done that and don't even know where to find things like that. Grin Now I'm not sure about all of those things that Sandi has posted lately because I have seen most of them in emails that make the rounds ..those I'm not sure about and they might have to be removed.

This is an older thread and I really don't want to remove it all.

Anyway...that's why I hadn't posted anything here. (I am also the HWF...Rolling on floor laughing...just not an admin)

Hi Mary and everyone...

I didn't mean to 'take charge' and over step my boundries. sorry... really am.Embarrassed

as far as I know of the photos I have posted... if it was a 'copy right' photo they will not even let you even save it to your computer. If it is a copy right photo it will say you 'cannot be saved'. So I was able to save them so I thought they were ok to use.

Also when I would search for photos on the internet and it brought me to a web site of a photographer or something like that I would just get out of that web site and not even use any of those photos.

again... I am sorry
Diane

wave Hi Everyone:

As you know we have had some copyright issues lately that we have had to address. Unfortunately, it is going to change the way you have been used to posting. Please read the following carefully:

DO NOT POST ANY GRAPHICS, animations, or photos without following the TERMS of USE from the site where they originate. Just because the heading on the site says they are free, does not mean you can copy them and attach them to a post. You MUST follow the designated method of use in order to comply with the copyright regulations.

BEFORE YOU POST: If you cannot find THE TERMS OF USE, have a problem figuring out how to post from a particular site or are unsure about its copyright requirements, please post a request in the Posting Copyrighted Material is Prohibited thread HERE to have someone help you.

There are a number of sites listed HERE that have the terms of use already defined. Each site has it’s own method of posting. The majority of them use the CODING system to share their product. Please see JudyB’s post HERE explaining how to use this method of posting your graphic. Once you become familiar with it, you will find it isn’t that difficult.

If you have difficulty with any of the other methods, again, please post a request for help HERE and someone will be happy to help you.

This is for YOUR protection because ultimately, YOU, The Poster, are the one responsible and will be the one that will be open to whatever repercussions come from disregarding the copyright requirements!

We all have to get used to this new way of posting and it will take some effort on everyone’s part.

Thank you for your co-operation!

Please take the time to read the following!

Diane...please don't be sorry...nobody is at fault on this copyright thing. I think ever since we started the forum in '06 everybody has been pretty much posting anything interesting that they found You can save stuff that is copyrighted to your computer...I know that over the years I have done it but you are right...some sights have safeguards against that practice. I guess we will all have to read the fine print on whatever site we are dealing with Personally I think that if they post their stuff on the net without a way of preventing people from using them they should be fair game but unfortunately that's not how the law works....what a pain in the tuckus!!!!

Mary, I just checked out the terms of use on the Cheezburger site and unfortunately, it looks like it is illegal to post their pics anywhere unless it is one created by the poster or if the poster has permission from the creator. What ashame, they are so much fun!

Here is a link to their Terms of Use if you want to have a look - #7 HERE and #3 in the Terms of Use HERE

I think I have interpreted it correctly.

I didn't have a clue that you couldn't post them.Don't Know When I click on a picture in the Cheeze site it says I can use them in a tweet or e-mail them also. I guess I just took for granted you could copy and post any of their pictures. I'm sorry if I caused any problems for anyone. Sad
