Hello all you people at Daily Beat.
Jan, iguana's are usually vicious. If you cornered one and teased it, ya he might run at you. Never heard of anyone getting bit by one though. He would eat the birds and/lor eggs.
Here is an update of the Mocking Birds. They think my camera is food. The second picture is when they realised it was not food and cuddled back down to sleep. Cute as the dickens...

Vicki - since 30 April 2009
God Gives every bird it's food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

Good Morning Everyone,
Jan~~~I was also amazed at how careful the adult eagles are. Especially when they are trying to feed the little ones. If the piece isn't small enough they will keep tearing it apart until it is. It sure is fun to watch.
Vicki~~~Well I guess I wouldn't be teasing an iguana, but they are very pretty. I'm just glad he didn't get those baby birds. Those thorns really show up in the pictures. I don't think I'd be poking my hands in those trees. Those little ones sure can stretch their necks out for food.
We had some nice weather over the week-end, so I went out and cleaned most of my bird houses out. Mostly from my little wren friends. Found tiny feathers, bits of plastic, twigs and quite a few twigs from the pine trees. I haven't seen a robin yet, but the red-wing blackbirds and the starlings are back. Opened up the back door this morning to let the dogs out and got a strong whiff of Skunk. Phew!!! That will clear up your sinuses. I do believe spring is just around the corner.
They seem to think Mom laid another egg last night at Sidney. She sure likes to lay in the dark, the little stinker. Trying to get my work done, so I can watch.
Wishing everyone a happy Monday.

vivki and cindy - thanks for the pics - and elaine - I love the way you called Ma Sidney a stinker! LOL Boy! if she heard you say that in eagle talk - you'd be in BIG trouble!
I am back in training mode - and 'wait' mode - I'm beginning to not like end of the month stuff anymore.
Cindy - glad you are getting over your sinus/ear stuff - and also glad you had a nice time with your dd (darling daughter). I've been meaning to ask - how ARE the newly weds doing? Pics of critters are so nice...and yes LOOK at those whiskers. I think Pete is saying 'top 'o the mornin' to ya' - don't you?
I am staying well away from any iguanas, vicki - I didn't realize they were not nice....
Those wee baby birds are so adoreable - can't wait to see a baby eagle again.
Gotta go - have a nice afernoon, all.

good morning all
elaine: I'll never tell Ma Eagle, if you don't! she is such a good mom, too. Hope this is a good season for her and pa.
I can just see you now - out in the yard - peering all around for a robin or two They are such interesting birds to watch. Very good hearing, I tell ya!
We had a scary newcomer arrive at the feeder on Sunday. There were dozens of small birds eating at the different feeders. I was near to the window, but not looking out of it, when something suddenly hit the outside window. When I went to the front door and opened it - there was a small hawk !
It saw me, as it sat on the top of the bird feeder post - and just stared at me, without blinking. However, when I shooed it away, it flew off.
There were two little woodpeckers eating suet. One on a wooden suet feeder and another on one of the big trees. For 45 minutes after the hawk left, they did not move. If a person didn't know it - you would have thought they were ornaments. Not a blink of an eye or a feather moved.
All the other little birds had disappeared too! After about 45 min. some chickadees returned and then as the movement and noise of the other birds picked up - the two woodpeckers flew away. They must have been so terrified!
How are your chickens doing (or should I say your neighbour's chickens who love you?)
Cindy - I think you could write a childrens story book on your Pete and Bobcat antics. Their facial expressions and humanlike traits would make for an interesting read for kids.
Gotta go now - sun is coming up and it is going to be a nice day.
I hope everyone is feeling alright today.

My gosh Jan, you really had some excitement going on in your yard. EEK!!!!!
That hawk must have been dive-bombing for a little bird. Would have been amazing to see how the other birds reacted. A few years back the chickens were making a lot of racket out back and I went to look out my window and spotted a small hawk nearby. The chickens were making a lot of noise but they went under the pine tree to hide. Speaking of the (Neighbors ) chickens. They kind of come and go now that the snow has melted. We still have snow in shady areas, but they can travel back and forth. Bad thing is that one of the roosters started chasing another rooster. This happens a lot when there are too many roosters. They fight to the death and there's not too much one can do to stop it. One year we had two roosters fighting out back and the next day they were both dead in our yard.
I don't like that part of it at all.
I've been watching the Norfolk nest this morning as one is suppose to hatch today. They've had some beautiful up close shots of the nest. Such a beautiful sight.
Wishing you a beautiful day Jan.
