Hi Scott,
Beautiful pics of your eagles. Nice pics of your hawks too. Sorry I can't help id that one for you. Beautiful pic of Mt. Cheam with the eagle in the pic. Cute little turkeys and duck too. Looks like it was a beautiful day for an outing. Great pics of the eagle you saw on your way home. Just beautiful! Thanks, Scott.

Scott, to quote Lori, Memememeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I think it is a Cooper's hawk. They are permanent in your area and have that long tail with a white tip. I also looked at the Sharp-shinned hawk because they are very similar and are also in your area. The Cooper's is larger than the Sharp-shinned. I got in my bird books and also on the South Dakota birds site which is excellent.

You know that you just give me great joy looking at your photos. They are wonderful. I really love the eagles with the Mt. Cheam background. How wonderful that people recognize what you are doing and are cooperating in giving you better access. Thank you for sharing with us.

Ohhhhh Nanc!!! You devil you!! I was here last night looking at Scott's pics, I cracked open my new book and here's what I typed out for Scott to post this morning....
Hey Scott I pulled out my new book and took my first stab with it at the hawk. I'm going with Cooper's juvenile for now. He's gorgeous whatever he is! I'll look again later at the other hawks to be sure. Great outing today that's for sure! You are one lucky guy but you know that right?
So great job Scott and I loved all the pics! and naughty girl Nanc for beating me at my own mememeeeee game
I would rather spend my life close to the birds than wishing I had wings
