Well this is the reply back from Joe at the nest, from the sounds of it they are a yr behind it was 2009 that the chicks died, so I guess that means they aren't new eagles same ones from 2010 different from 2009
Hi Jannice---

Well it's because we believe one of the adults must have died last year which lead to the demise of the chicks during the cold rain when the other adult couldn't stay any longer. Also, this male is banded and the previous one wasn't and the female seems to have different bands. I am more of the technician that tries to keep these things going---so not really a eagle expert. It's kind of a challenge because we don't have power at the eaglenest and I am not allowed to work on it except a couple months in the summer when the chicks have left.

Bob's new camera set up at Decorah is sure awesome! Wish we had something like that here. Maybe someday.

Hope this helps.

Joe

Jan 28, 2011 Sunny warm day in the area. The temps were in the low 60's today.

Hi Jannice and Judy B.

Jannice thanks for contacting Joe. I am glad to hear that he was talking about the season before last when we did have a new female. I am sure his job is not easy and I appreciate all he does for St Vrain eagles.

The eagles were in the nest today off and on.
9:50 Ma is in the nest.
10:50 One eagle at the nest, then both. Nest is empty at 11:30.
2:50 One eagle is on the nest and stays until 3:20

Well I just got home and found this in my mail
Jannice---

I told you "a confusion" in my email I sent from the forum website. The eaglets that perished were on 4/17/2009. I don't have much information from the 2010 season actually...that year was just too busy for me to keep up with the eagles! We have a fellow on staff at the plant here who is a licensed falconer and know a lot more about the birds than I do and he says it does appear that the pair frequenting the nest is different from last year. I'm sure they got their information from him or from Bob Anderson. I just wish they'd turn our live views on---kinda frustrating. We are sending out two images from the eagle nest and one view from the owl nest here and they're not really utilizing the real time imaging. Since we installed all new servers this year they are probalby having some problems reconfiguring everything. Unfortunately, I just don't know. THanks for your continued support and interest.

Jannice thanks for the information from Greeley Joe. Sounds like this nest could use an official watcher who is close enough to be on site. Hopefully "they" will begin to put out the live cam stream that they are receiving from the nest cam. If I read that right, that is.

It will be another nice day before it cools off and maybe even snows. Temps at the nest will be in the mid 50's. It is partly cloudy.

The eagles were on the nest from 9:50 to 10:10. There are new sticks along the fence and there is additional bedding this morning.

Continuing for 1 29 11

The eagle finally left the nest at 1:36. There was a short visit again at 5:30. Days are getting longer as the night cam was not on for this pic.

Jan 30, 2011 Low 20's overnight and into the high 40's today. The sunshine will give way to clouds and snow arriving tomorrow and continuing into Tuesday. Then we are cold all week. (I am out all day Monday)

As off 8:25 the cam is not operating.

Hello FSV,

Donna,
I did get an automatic refresh of the empty nest this afternoon. Must admit; I have not been watching (lost my link - of all things but have it back now). I will look in tomorrow.
