Hi Bev, Cal, Judy B and Jannice

I was in and out today but did not catch the eagles at the nest. Looks like some sticks were brought in.
I did see an eagle at the Coors tree but can't be sure it was one of the Applewood eagles that have stayed here in the winter. I did not spot the Standley Lake eagles today when I was up in that area. so I guess I hope to see the Fort St. Vrain eagles tomorrow.

How exciting to see the others tho right?
I was in and out all day so I didn't get but a couple chances to check the nest, we will all hope that our Eagles show for us tomorrow.
You are so lucky to be able to see as many as you do, I'm hoping I might be able to find some around
here soon.

Jannice, I will hope that you find eagles close to you also. The Standley Lake eagles have been raising 2 to 3 eaglets since 1996. They are getting older and their nest tree is very fragile. It is really hard to get close to them but I have seen them in the air and there is a new parking lot across the lake from the nest. With good binoculars you can watch them, but it is pretty far away.

The Applewood pair arrived last December and over time I found many of the places they like to be. They arrived around Nov 15th and I see them off and on. They have lots of open space to live and hunt in so I am always glad when I see them in the Coors nest tree. Today the one eagle stayed there from 11 or sooner until after 4 p.m.. I did not stay there all afternoon but as I was going here and there I would go by to check. It is certainly a hit or miss situation. This pair stayed until early March and then I did not see them again until this Nov if that was indeed the pair that I have been seeing.

I hope it is ok to post a pic or two of the Applewood eagles in the Coors nest tree.
Here is the pair as I saw them in mid Nov.

Here is the one I saw today

The thrill of seeing them never goes away.....never ends.....

Oh my goodness those are great pictures thank you so much for sharing them, I'm still pretty new to try and find eagle nests, so I'm always looking along the river here and just between us I almost ran into the field one day looking up instead ahead, so now I park and get the binoculars out. I did hear some one night yelling at something here close to my house freaked me out I thought I was hearing things but then I heard it a couple more times so then I knew I wasn't going completly nuts I didn't realize they vocalized at night.

Donna, Thanks so very much for providing content about your local area. Your Applewood Eagle pics are beautiful. If I may ask: What is the distance from FSV to the Coors tree in your pictures? Just curious; always fun to learn about the area where members live.

Jannice, Good luck and happy eagle viewing up there in your neck of the woods.

Hi Bev!

The SV eagles are about an hour(on the interstarte) n e of the Coors tree. The Standley Lake eagles are 8 miles n e of the Coors tree. But not as far east as the SV nest. The Coors tree is about 3 miles from the foothills and the Stanley Lake eagles about the same maybe 4 miles. The SV eagles are farther east from the foothills. They are out in the open field areas near Greeley. SL and Applewood eagles are in the city/suburbs but right in the midst of open space. However the applewood eagles are only here during the winter months of Dec, Jan and Feb and leave in March. And they may not stay near here even this season. I watched them last year and knew 3 of their favorite perches. They fished in the open places on the ponds near the tree from the ice. And then they began to make a nest in the tree on the golf course must have been practice because then they left in March not to be seen again until I think I saw them on Nov15th in the Coors tree. I saw a pair in the tree but there is no way to be sure it was last year's visitors.

I saw one eagle in the SV nest and downloaded the pics but I was in the midst of errands so now I will not post mine. I am so glad you saw both of them. Whoooo Hoooo to seeing our eagles.

Thank you, Donna, for answering my question. Sounds to me like there is a critical eagle corridor (open water) in your area. Very interesting!
Thank You

Know just what you mean about errands, Donna. Would like to see your picture though if you get the time today.
