Hi Doug: Great pixs of the Cedar Waxwing and Mourning Dove. You seem to consistently get nice photos of perched birds. I know it's very difficult to get these photos because these small birds seem to be continually in motion. -- Ed

Hi Ed * Thanks for looking in. Yes, the perching birds are a challenge that I enjoy.

Here is another Bellingham area trail. This is one of my favorite lowland trails. It is located near Lake Whatcom on Lake Louise Road just before you get to Sudden Valley. There is an adequate parking lot that has a reputation for insecurity. Do not leave valuables in your car. The trail is in classic Pacific Northwest forest. There are even a few surviving old growth trees. The trail passes Beaver Pond and then climbs to where the 3 mile loop begins. There is also a 1.2 mile side loop to Geneva Pond. See map on sign. * Click twice on photos for bigger image *

The Whatcom Land Trust does terrific work preserving land in Whatcom county. This is one of their many projects in collaboration with local authorities.
