Olympic National Park, 5-25-10, Rain continues. Had hoped to drive up to Hurricane Ridge and hike Hurricane Trail, one of my favorites. Park rangers advise against this because of snow and ice on road at higher elevations and no visibility because of fog. This leaves us with a ½-mile hike on Living Forest Trail behind the visitor center near Port Angeles. Nice trail but not much wildlife. Hence, Mt. Slug. Clickables

Dungeness National Wildlife Reserve, Sequim, Wash,, 5-25-10. This is our fourth visit to Dungeness this year. Best time to go is in the winter when all the migratory birds are around. Today, some Pigeon Guillemots are putting on a show during high tide. These pigeons, which are in the same family as puffins, appear and disappear in the heavy waves that wash ashore. Clickables
