Sunburst starfish, 2-11-12. Two-day visit to Sequim, Wash. Rain and poor visibility prevented eagle photos but starfish often visible at John Wayne Marina, just east of Sequim. Click to enlarge.

I am going to White Rock tomorrow to babysit grandchildren and know where Mud Bay is down by Crescent beach. Is this the same Mud Bay that is in these photos or is it along Boundary Bay closer to Vancouver? Are the snowy owls still there? I sure hope so. I remember seeing them years ago further north from White Rock. What a wonderful sight. I have one 7 year old granddaughter that is proving to be a very keen birder so I hope we can find these snowy owls as well as the Bald eagles. Smile Barb

Barb: All our sightings have been at Boundary Bay, closer to Vancouver. Take Ladner Trunk exit off Highway 99 and then turn left onto 72nd and follow it out to the dike. As far as I know, the owls are still there. Also, you may want to call Nature Vancouver's Rare Bird Alert: A recorded message is expected to provide updates when the snowy owls leave Boundary Bay. Call 604-737-3074. Good luck. Hope they are still there.

Thank you for the directions to find the owls. It sounds like they're close to where they were years ago. I'm looking forward to my trip to White Rock tomorrow. Its for 3 weeks and I love the pier there. Barb

Skagit Valley, 3-24-12. Beautiful day shaping up so decide to head south about 50 miles to look for wildlife. Eagle spotted atop fir tree and then observed trumpeter swans in field and in air. Click to enlarge.
