Good morning Nesters. Just a quick post today we are meeting urbanEagle soon to tour our nests again he came up with his dog named Fred. He took some pics of the eaglet in the Marsh Nest last night and today we are off touring the nests again to see if we can spot Pacer and the eaglets at the Shoreline nest as well as Chaster Nest. fingers crossed Larry has an awsome camera.

Thanks for the timmies and treats Debs. Will be glad when all these fires are out.

Hope you are feeling better Judy, SJ.hugRed Heart

Have a grand Sunday Sitting eagle Nesters!

We have heavy cloud cover as of 9 a.m. but they are slowly being dispersed with fairly good winds and the sun will be beating down on us again. Temps were down to 16 C. overnight which is very helpful for sleeping. It is now 23 C. and climbing! Supposed to get up to near yesterday's temps again for the next couple of days then lower for a while. Phew Phew!

Thanks so much for sending Roadie and the team with Tims and esp. Ice Caps- Titter Yippee!
I do hope the fires are soon under control and out quickly, everywhere!

Hi Marg! Good luck finding Pacer- he's probably testing out all his new skills of soaring and diving!

Now Out to light candles and walk! happy Cool hug Nodding Left thumb up Whistling wave

Well we tried our very best to go north but the smoke was just too thick we only got 50 kms and had to turn around. Visiblity was getting worse and we could feel the smoke have a negative impact on our respiratory systems....although we have had the latter for a few days now.

Before heading north we stopped at the Fire Information Center, which is situated right in town along highway 35 and a forestry rep (from eastern Canada) gave us an update on the fire situation; he was very information and friendly too. Lots of fire crews arriving from other Provinces (thank you) and he was one of the newbies here. Conditions are basically the same but wanted to check before we headed out just in case.

We have 745 firefighters; 12 aircraft; 16 helicopters and lots of other equipment and resources in our Upper Hay Region dedicated to fighting these fires. We feel surrounded by fires right now. The smoke is widespread and the conditions are just horrible right now....and have been for the last two days; hubby and i are both feeling it and we are other wise healthy cannot imagine how the young and elderly are coping in this smoke. If it persists we may need inhalers or puffers soon to improve our own breathing or we may have to leave our community. Apparently the wind is expected to change tomorrow, which will improve our smoke situation and rain is in the forecast especially this coming Thursday!!

It really tried to rain today but we only got a few drops.

Here is the lastest information on our fires updated awhile ago.

I took some pictures mainly of the smoke, which I will post later.

Anyway we are home safe and sound back to being locked down....to keep the smoke at bay.

Awww Debs, that's too bad that it was too bad for you to travel up there! Re:breathing at home, Mrs. ED has an air reconditioning type fan which helps us in the eveningsand other fans going all day. But, we turn all the fans off when we go to bed. I'm going to try the reconditioner on at night to see if it helps breathing overnight! Oops, too much!

Morning Nesters wave

The wind has changed direction and the smoke is much better this morning Very Happy So I am heading north this morning and going to try and get to the nest in Hay River; wish me luck. Hubby is back to work today after two weeks of holidays so I will be making this adventure myself. I will check in with Fire Information booth before I leave.

John We are trying similar things but the smoke was so bad it seemed nothing really did the job; rain is in the forecast for tomorrow thru the rest of the week Very Happy

Some captures of the smoke in town yesterday....

Signage appearing at the highway just as you head of out town alerting everyone of the fire situation and that road closures are possible without notice. The Zama road has been closed since last Monday....so the second sign is for that alert.

The highway just north of town we received a couple of drops of rain...and I mean a couple of drops....it was so strange.
