Hello Deb's Always a good place to come to ..so much fun and much conversation for one to read and do. Iam doing better after this cancer scare of the right eye.Close to the bridge of the nose.and eye I went to Kingston Hospital and they took the cancer off. Had me way down head first . (Not bad for an old lady contortionist of 85 smile) What a wonderful thing as I was quite astonded for I never felt it. My Dr. saw it and sent me to Kingston right away to have the op. Debs thanks for keeping us up-to-date on our dear sj. I hope she will be feeling better soon Such wonderful news about the Hornby nest. It will be interesting to find out what kind of a view we will have. I hope Doug will continue to post his observations on the Hornby Eagles thread

John I have been in touch with friends in Campbell River (you know J & D) and D said she thinks the lot the eagle tree is on was for sale for quite awhile. J & D's daughter K and her husband actually looked at the lot but were deterred from buying because, although it was subdividable, the eagles' nest location prohibited the subdivision. So, it seems that realtors (hence potential purchasers) knew about the nest. I watched the CHEK News video again and I'm sure they said it wasn't confirmed the eagle nest tree had a yellow wildlife plaque on it. They showed one on an adjacent tree. This sort of thing seems to be happening quite often; owners and developers of choice waterview properties don't seem to care about the welfare of wildlife or the environment; they have plenty of money to pay the fines so that isn't a deterrent at all D will keep in touch with me to let me know what happens with the lot. Now that the eagle nest tree has been chopped down, the owner will probably go ahead with a subdivision application. It's very sad for the eagles and I hope they will be able to build another nest in a hurry before it's time to lay eggs
