Welcome, sawrat - and I hope that you don't mind that I edited your post so the pictures would show - am on a quick break from work, but the trick is to use FILE tags - will explain more when I can.
Those are beautiful pictures, and I also hope they're just toying with the idea of a new nest, and will move back to the nice nest with the camera before nesting season.
Thanks again for stopping by - and please do keep us posted on future developments.

That is a nice looking nest, sawrat.
(The sigh is about them - not you. You'd think the eagles would be thrilled at the opportunity of becoming famous across North America and around the world - but they insist on doing eagle things - like building other nests.)
I have heard of a fair number of eagles who have built back-up nests, then moved back to their primary nest and fixed it up in a mad dash just before laying eggs - so that might happen. But I'm afraid I've heard of other eagles - like our Sidney pair - who build a new nest and move on over.
Thanks for the update - and the pictures!

Thanks Larry.
There's no point any of us trying to second guess an eagle because they'll do whatever pleases them whether we like it or not
We'll wait patiently until late Feb. to see which nest they choose. Our Sidney pair did the same thing to us a couple of years ago so we've been through it before.
I like your idea of a distance camera if we need one

Thanks Judy
But it wasn't my idea ...David suggested it after I told him the Eagles may have moved to the new nest. But like you said ," We have been thru this before"
And personal If I where an Eagle (i think the old nest provides better protection.... But then I'am not an eagle)
Will be whatching
Larry

Saw both eagles today. 1 at the nest the other chasing down a gull for a meal.
I only have pictures of the 1 near the new nest. Here is one of the pictures and I will post more later tonight when time permits.
