I have also seen the the one in the nest leave to go to the waters edge then fly back up to hunker down. From my side I could not tell what is going on when she went to the water. I have had a busy week at work this week so time was really limited but one of the guys watch a pair of geese try to make use of the nest while she was in it on Thursday.

The geese flew up to the nest and she erupted out of the nest at them. She went after them for a couple of minutes chasing on to the end of the log boom and then going after the the other one that was still near by until it left. She then back up to the nest and settle down but was calling out to her mate who was no where to been seen while this went on. I wish i could have seen it.

I took this one Friday after work and I am hoping to try to get down during the weekend to see if I can get up to a higher vantage point then what I normally use.

Sawrat and freinds of these Eagles ... Plenty of action around the nest today 41min. went by when a juvie (about a three year old I'd say after a closer look at the pic )came SWOOPING in with Pa hot on there tail and Ma in a panic on the nest .PA just missed him and that was enough for the juvie to know that he wasn't welcome, and flew off to the east . A minute later ma flew out of the nest and landed beside pa on the next tree over to the nest and both voiced there objections to the Juvie as he left the area.

by 1:57 Ma was back in the nest and hunkered down and pa made his way east to make sure that the Juvie was well on his way.

sawrat and Larry ... thanks so much for the wonderful pictures and narrative of the action around the Port Moody nest! I wonder if they will use this new nest again in future years and whether the cams might be moved over to the new nest (if possible) ... I suppose time will tell! Maybe the new tree isn't as suitable for cam mounting/power source, either.

Maryj2u , The new nest at the mill is private property and the owner at this time has no interist in helping the HWF in installing cam's unlike PCT who supported and funded the camera install at the old nest,But that being said eagles will be eagles and perhaps next season they will go back to the old nest where the cam,s will remain. Don't forget that this pair will use there old nest to take releif from there little one(s) and perhaps teaching them to fly by taking food into the old nest and making the fledglings come and get it.
