I was watching the nest this morning from my vantage point at an upper area of the building and at 8 am noticed both eagles coming from the north heading to the nest then about 100 yards before they got there 1 of them did a U turn and flew north easterly. Why it would suddenly do the about face is beyond me as there was nothing out of the ordinary around the nest or in the area. unless it was making sure there was no intruder The one did land on it's usual branch for an hour or before it left as well. So it may appear that they will move to the old digs which would be good.

Been a busy day for me without much chance to keep an eye on the nest but at 8:15 am I noticed a lone eagle in the old (cam) tree on a favorite perching branch.

I checked again about 9 and it was gone. Then around 1:30 pm I saw the "love birds" on the perch pole and by 2:20 pm they were gone.

At 8 am I notice the lone eagle sitting on it's perching branch near the old nest then by 9 am it was gone. Then 11:00 am I saw the lone eagle heading to the old nest (see pictures) it stayed for about 40 mins and left..........likely for some dryer place as the rain surely has to be putting a damper on things.

Through a bit of morning drizzle I noticed the lone eagle at the nest around 8 but by 8:35 am it was gone. Not much to report in the way of eagles but at 1:30 pm we sure had some entertainment as a Red Tail Hawk was being harassed but about 150 crows around the eagles old nest where the we have been seeing the lone eagle quite regularly. It caught my attention because of the large black mass in the sky.

The crows chased it into some small trees that line the property where I got a good look at it and a few closer pictures.

From there they kept diving the Hawk until it took off looking for a more quieter spot

Unfortunately it went to a spot that really only could get worse on the tree next to eagles nest (You can see it landing on a branch in the lower right corner

Luckily for the Hawk the eagles where not where around as I am sure they would not have taken too kindly to it regardless of the fact the crows were chasing it everywhere. Again off it went with the crows in pursuit.

This time it landed on a tree on the other side of the nest (upper left in the picture)

Finally after over an hour of being chased around the area of the old nest the crows had finally gotten tired of harassing the Hawk and it was able to fly off towards Rocky Point. After work on the off chance I drove towards the boat launch and saw the Hawk sitting in the trees across from the street from the Rowing Club and took one more parting frame before I headed home.

Wonderful pictures, sawrat - love the silhouette view of the crow and the hawk in the previous post!

And I am glad the eagles weren't around - that poor hawk had enough trouble without one or both of them chiming in! Smile
