Larry when time permits and there may be time depending how much snow we get now as I see it is falling, check this link out http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?hl=en&gl= ... 5&t=h&z=15 as it is a google map with the nests on it and where I know they roost.
Let me know what you think

Hi Larry, Peter, and Kay * So nice to meet your urban eagle pair. Great photos !
Just last night, I attended the second in a series of classes on raptor identification.
The featured birds last night were Red-tailed Hawks and Rough-legged Hawks.
Larry, the hawk that you ask about is a real beauty !!
I don't claim to be an expert, but I'm learning.
It is not a Rough-legged ... among other things, you can see in the first photo that it has bare legs. Rough-legged hawks have feathers right down to their feet.
I'm pretty sure that it is a dark, adult Red-tailed hawk.
In the second photo, you can see that the patagium is dark. This is a RTH field mark.
I hope that helps.

Around 1:45 pm later in the day the smaller one came back to the perch pole while I was in the yard. I was able to grab another couple of shots up close and at a distance in the yard. I wandered around and then left and about 15 mins later it was gone.

I turned on the cam this morning just in time to see a grey squirrel scamper down the branch in the lower right hand corner and disappear into what appears to be a hole in the nest!! I do hope this isn't a permanent arrangement!!
Hole is the dark spot in the crook of the curved branch!.

Hi All,
The lone eagle flew by one of guys and myself around noon with some sort of food in it's beak. It landed on the perch pole and I got tied up so I did not get a chance to take a picture by 12:25 I saw it was gone but I could see it sitting on the branch at the old nest. I checked later around 2:10 pm and it was gone.
Cheers
