Duke Farms, New Jersey - Bald Eagle Cam

This nest has streaming video, with a good view of the nest, though the focus is a little fuzzy.

"Duke Farms is a 2,700-acre estate in Hillsborough, New Jersey, and is owned and supported by the Duke Farms Foundation. The mission of Duke Farms is to be a model of environmental stewardship in the 21st Century and inspire visitors to become informed stewards of the land. This Eagle Cam was installed to provide researchers with an opportunity to monitor a pair of nesting Bald Eagles without any disturbance to the birds. 2009 was the first year we watched this pair, and the site doesn't provide any history on them. They successfully raised and fledged three chicks in 2009, with both parents sometimes feeding at the same time from different areas of the nest, making it easier for the smallest to get a share.

2009-2010 Season:

• cam up: March 17
  
• eggs laid: website reports 2 eggs, thought to be laid around February 20
  
• hatched: seen March 27, 12:45 pm; seen March 28, 8:15 am
  
• fledged: June 21, 5:25 am (86 days); June 20, 6:39 am (84 days); both returned to the nest June 23
  
• last seen: June 30 - both in nest in the morning, cam down in the afternoon

The cam is not online yet - but I did find an update!

February 2010 Update: The pair of adult Bald Eagles has been seen at the nest, repairing damage from fall and winter storms. We, too, are making repairs to some of our equipment and hope to once again offer live-stream video of the Bald Eagles this nesting season. Please check back for updates.

I'm glad to hear they're hoping to be back online. One of the things I enjoyed about this nest is that both adults fed their three rambunctious offspring - and often one would wait until the two larger ones were happily being fed by one parent, and then the other parent would offer food to the little one at the other side of the nest. It did help make sure the youngest got a share!

Cam is up! There's a new link, which I've put in the first post - and they report that there are two eggs in the nest, laid around February 20 - and I just saw an exchange - and the eggs!

Must say it looks quite different now than it will once the leaves come in on the tree!

Thanks for the comparison pictures! The camera does seem to be either at a slightly different angle or zoomed back a bit - not sure which. It does look as if it will let us know what's happening - which is the important thing!

And it sounds as if there could be chicks by the end of the month!
