Good morning! Grin

LL is all over the nest this morning. Must admit that it makes sense that she's getting most of her exercise in the morning when it's cool, and doing a lot of perching and watching in midday when it's been quite hot.

Happy Hatch Day to Little/Large Libby - she's 11 weeks old today! Grin

Look where LL is this morning!

I got a late start today, so don't know how she got out there. Oh - almost forgot that there are some pics on the visitor center website - will go see if there are any clues. Smile

This is from the visitor center site:

The next pic, at 8:47 am, she was about where she is now. I'll try to keep an eye on her today to see what she decides to do next. love

By the way, I did see a good feeding yesterday, with the adult feeding her some, and then she finished the fish on her own. I was quite sure there were lots of feedings - just not that many when I happened to be watching. Cool

SamJennsGrandma from the Maine forum got this s'cap - I was thinking it was after the one above so might be LL getting ready to head out on the branch, but it's actually a little earlier. It is a nice shot, so I'm bringing it over anyway. Smile

Good morning, Libby!

LL seemed to be enjoying her exploration of the branch off to the right yesterday (though she did reappear promptly when food was delivered). And I'm wondering if she spent the night perching out there - if not, she definitely scurried out before I checked in on her.

Early pic from the visitor center site (too dark to tell if she's in the nest)

I didn't have time to post when it happened, but LL reappeared on the branch at the right after a while - and is still there now (8:22 MDT). Not sure when I first saw her there.

Hi Mary - thanks for stopping by! Smile

LL is getting very comfortable on the outer branches - and while I'm not positive, I think she might have spent the night out there. I was trying to catch the first glimpse of the nest this morning, but had to step away for a couple of minutes. It was within 5 minutes of light enough to see anything, and she wasn't in sight - so I do suspect she's perching at night now.

The cam does make it hard to judge sizes, but I'm wondering if she might be male - they generally fledge a little earlier, and she does seem to be heading in that direction.

I did see another nice feeding+self-feeding session yesterday - her parents do take good care of her. love

I'll try to add a couple of pictures during the course of the day - and really will get a start on the daily slideshows eventually. So far I've mostly seen her sitting on the branch or seen an empty nest as she goes further out.

Edited to add pic - I think this was a bit of flapping practice on the branch; the next refresh showed her perched as usual.

Edited again - Two more pics from today - first, I don't know where the food came from - but she seemed to be enjoying it. I'm guessing there was a delivery and the adult got out of the way in a hurry!

Again this morning LL wasn't in the nest when I checked as it was getting light. She did appear a little later, out on the branch to the right. I'll try to add a couple of pics as the day progresses.

11:00 am
Adult arrived, I thought with food - but LL seemed to be content on her branch.

Then the second adult arrived - a real treat for me as I don't think I've seen them together in the couple of weeks I've been covering the nest.

One adult left almost immediately - the part where they're only here for one or two refreshes is part of the reason I don't see them too often - and after a couple of minutes, LL came into the nest. The remaining adult moved out to the branch, and for a moment, LL looked torn - eat lunch, or take back her branch? She chose lunch. love

Good morning! Here's a morning pic - LL wasn't visible when I could first see the branch - must have been further out - but I liked the image of her there.

Well, I was hoping that she'd wait until CAL was back online - but I rather suspect that Little Libby fledged today. I'll add details when I look through my pics from today - but she moved from her usual new perch area to a smaller branch a little further out - and I just missed the s'cap about 9:00 am this morning when she spread her wings from there and disappeared.

She might be branching out of sight - but I didn't see the adults stop by the nest as they usually do, so perhaps they're traveling with her as she learns the neighborhood. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow will bring.

Have fun, young one - and come back for a visit soon. love
