2:37 MST eagle off the nest. clearly see 2 eggs.
2:45 eagle returns rolls eggs, and settles in to incubate
I notice that there is a message on the site for Feb. 19 that there may be two eggs.....I have registered there but have not heard from raptor resource so I am not able to post there yet......the video on HWF thread is very good and it was at that time or before the next morning that the egg was laid. I am glad we have a place to post text and pics to validate our observations....
Judy thanks keeping us posted....it may snow again tonight only flurries and not even an inch expected and it will be in the mid 30's tomorrow.

Good Morning Feb 20, 2010
good morning Castor.....
6:36 MST 8:36 EST
Eagle in the nest resting
6:38 eagle flies off of nest. other eagle flies in at 6 o'clock. Rolls eggs and settles over the egg cup. I believe that this is pa as this eagle is sleek, more rounded head, and seems a bit smaller on the area where it is dry.
6:40 quietly resting on the egg cup
7:06 rolls eggs and still resting at 7:19 eagle has been moving the bedding around as it rests over eggs

Good morning, Castor and Donna. Thanks for the night pic, Castor - I always thought this nest was far away from people, but there do seem to be lights in the distance with this new view. And thanks for the morning report, Donna.
9:44 am
The regular cam is foggy and I can't get the side view cam - but I'm sure the second adult arrived and the first left. The adult who arrived has been standing on the side of the nest - not sure if he/she is eating or just standing there.
9:51 am
Adult is now incubating
And someone sent me an interesting pic she found in the Daily Pics - it looks as if one of the eagles has a leg band!

She was guessing it's the male - something we should be able to confirm as time goes by. One might wonder why we never noticed it before, as this is probably the same male as last year - but the cam has been directly overhead in previous years, making it quite hard to see the feet of adult eagles.

11:22 am
The male just arrived with a snack, which the female eagerly devoured. The male perched on the broken branch above the nest for a minute or so, but didn't incubate while the female had lunch. The menu looked like a fairly small dark colored bird, and the female finished it and returned to incubating in about 5 minutes.
I'll be away from the cam for the rest of the day. Based on the first two eggs (which appeared around 6 pm on the 14th and the 17th), there could be a third egg as early as this evening. I don't actually expect one - I do think this may be a young female, and while I don't have the data to back this up, I have the impression that two eggs are more common for the first few years.
But we will have to wait and see.
