Extraordinary, Christian.
Do you feel that you were blessed?
I particularly like the last one on page 107 where the eagle with all his feathers ruffled looks like and old friar walking about.
Thanks again for sharing these.

Today I was invited to the eagle WR camera chat group, and I gave some answers. You may be interested to read this and of course are most welcome to comment.
How much time, on the average, do you spend taking photos on each visit to the nest area?
[Christian Sasse] As much as possible! Sometimes I spend a few hours after work until it gets dark. I am a very patient person and like to look at the ocean and just observe. Opportunities come suddenly, and sometimes I am not fast enough, and then I get lucky
Do you mainly like to do "action" shots or do you take landscapes too?
[Christian Sasse] I like to follow the path of wildlife because it is a great contrast to work, so I prefer action shots. I have done some landscape photography, but am not specialized in it, as it requires a different approach and also equipment
Do you have equipment to take night time pictures?
[Christian Sasse] That’s an interesting question. My hobby is astronomy so if you ask me that, I would refer to my remote telescopes in New Mexico and Spain which I control from any laptop or cell phone and take images. But what you could also mean is if I take wildlife at night? So far I have not done it, but I have flexible equipment so it is possible. Any reason for asking?
Did you see the beached whale yesterday?
[Christian Sasse] Yes I did, and I took photos at 8am when the tide was low. Of course it was sad to see this, at the same time weird because there were so many people there, like a silent funeral, which is wonderful
Are there nests close to this one?
[Christian Sasse] White Rock has about 10 nests in various locations; they are typically 500m or more apart
What can you tell us about the crows?
[Christian Sasse] Ha, a lot – they are really noisy and intelligent! They have excellent group coordination and very aggressive towards Mama and Papa eagle because they have their nests in neighboring trees. They have lost some young ones to the nest and then they get very upset. I am not against them because they defend their needs too. Also they are so noisy so that I get a good warning when Mama or Papa return to the nest that I can run to my camera quickly and get ready
Are there many people living in the immediate area?
[Christian Sasse] This is a typical urban area with houses. Eagles have adapted well in these areas and seem to benefit from the surrounding area
Is there anything that surprised you about the eagles? For instance something as a fact but you noticed something different.
[Christian Sasse] For me everything is quite new as I only took up this hobby recently. Then I get very intensely involved. I noticed that Mama and Papa are an excellent team. They are also very successful at fishing. Well their supermarket, the ocean, is close by and they take anywhere from 2 min to 30 min to return with food. I have even photographed the whole sequence of hunting which you can find on the White Rock Ground Observers website. Please feel free to look at it
Do the parents interact with previous year’s offspring?
[Christian Sasse]No, and then again there is little known about this behavior. But all eagles are treated as intruders and are chased away. I hope to get very good images of the young so that when they return, we will be able to recognize them next year.
We noticed that more shorebirds were previously brought to nest, now it’s primarily fish or crow. Has the shorebird population diminished?
[Christian Sasse] Not at all, it is very noisy down there, especially during low tide! There just seems to be such an abundance of fish and crab now. When I walk through the water to take my images, I notice so much fish. Please look at my heron images on my new facebook page www.facebook.com/SassePhoto/
Will your photos be published in a book?
[Christian Sasse] I am thinking of doing this, mainly to support the web cams that you are using and more! By the way, there are some photos for Sale and these funds all go to the Hancock society staticpages/index.php/EaglePhotoSale-Top
