I checked this cam the other evening and was surprised to see that it has a night vision camera --- or it just happens to be where there is a lot of artificial lighting. Unfortunately the osprey are on the far side and it was next to impossible to see them.

I was going to also ask if anyone happens to know what materials these nests are built with. Until I checked the Florida nests I've seen man-made nests that are round and bowl shaped like these.

jkrwave The nests are made of fiberglass and have drain holes in the bottom, they cost $500.00. That type of nest is used to keep the Monk Parakeets from getting into the nest. The parakeets have parasites that can spread disease to the ospreys.

The cam is a night vision cam.

Both adults are there, and I think Dad has something pink that I'm guessing is fish.

I've seen two chicks clearly; I think I've seen the third, but am less sure of that. Cam is freezing so it's hard to catch motion.

One of the adults has left - I think the other is feeding, but it's hard to tell with the shadows and buffering.

1:54 pm
Feeding is continuing. I'm up to 90% certain I've seen all three. Smile

1:59 pm
Parent has changed position, I think to give the small one a few bites. It seemed to be behind the others, so didn't get as much - but being smaller, it doesn't need as much.

2:01 pm
Feeding is over and Mom (I think) is back to brooding.

I watched a feeding maybe a half hour ago - all three chicks were clearly visible. Grin

#3 is still smaller, but was up bobbing around with the rest through the feeding period.

Judy, thanks for the up date...I've been at the vet with my cat most of the morning, so no time to watch cams. The little ones are always 'nail biters', but the male seems to be a good provider and the female doing her job wellGrin
