Hey Urban Eagle,
That's where the Stellers Jays went! We used to have a pair nesting out side of our place, until the ground maintenance crew of our complex cut the acorn bush down a couple of years ago! That being said, I'm lucky that I live right next to a wooded area, and see lots of different birds nesting in the various tress. Here is a couple of pics of one of the Pileated Woodpeckers that live near my house.

He does have a mate that is usually with him, and I could hear her when I took these pictures, but she was well hidden in amongst the foilage. We certainly know when they're in the area from the loud knocking on the trees!
We'll most definately see you at FVBEF!

The Stellars and Pileated are both relatively new to me, only here 4 and a bit years now. They are definitely 2 of my favourite birds other than our eagles of course. Both are very striking in size, colouring and behaviours. for sharing!

Hello Everyone,
Empty nest syndrom most definately has set in. We ventured down to Rocky Point, hoping that just maybe we may get a glimps of the Osprey. The only one in the area was circling so far up, it was just a dot in the sky, but we could see it pretty good with my husband binoculars. I thought I would take a quick look at the nest the eagles have been trying to build, and it looks like it's been added to recently. That and the foilage seems to be getting thinner, so it's easier to see. When I put the picture on my computer and blew it up, I was surprised to see that it appears that one of the eagles in sitting just on the edge of the nest, kind of hidden amongst the thinning foilage!
Not sure if it's Ma or Pa though, but as always, a pleasure to see! Still hoping they decide to use the old nest at PCT! Talons double crossed!

Morning Port Moody followers! Just wondering if our young osprey ever returned to the nest or if it just took off? That is hard to imagine seeing how the 3 in Calgary are hanging about in and around the nest!
