HelloHi Scott, I've been away for the past 5 days and what a nice surprise to see we have another Content Provider/Moderator on boardVery Happy You have posted some wonderful photos and I look forward to seeing many more in the coming months. I hope some of the eagles you are monitoring produce little fuzzy lets in the spring and that you will be able to get lots of photos to post Left thumb up

Although I haven't been to Chilliwack for a few years, I have family members who lived there for many years.

Scott......i not only love your pictures, but your narrative as well. Left thumb up
The elegant Heron begs for it's pic to be taken. It would be hard for me to pass that by. Smile

Hi Naoma. I can't pass up getting pics of Herons even if I've already seen a few. They're very interesting birds. Smile

I headed out today to see if I could find the new nest I was told about on the 11th. I stopped by the Far Away nest first as it was on the way.
There were 4 birds soaring high above and I could hear the familiar call of the Red-tailed Hawk. Two of the birds looked a little different, but it was hard to tell as they weren't getting closer to me.
When I downloaded the pics, it looks like it was two RT's, a Turkey Vulture, and a Raven. They were all well behaved and after ten minutes or so soared in different directions. (The RT's stayed together.)

I could see an adult perched near the Far Away nest, but when I walked to the nearer viewing area it was hidden by the trees.

I continued on to the area the new nest was in and spotted it right away, along with an adult perched near the nest.

The eagle was quite content to enjoy the view, stretch a wing, and watch a flock of crows fly past.

This is the view I had from much lower than where the eagle was perched.

I drove to the Yale Rd. nest but no eagles spotted in the area, so drove past a different spot where I've seen eagles on a couple of occassions.
There is a small stream along this road with trees on both sides and the eagles I've seen have been on the far side and are easy to miss.
I was driving very slowly along when I spotted this one perched on the far side. There happened to be a break in the trees on the near side or I would have missed seeing it.
It watched me pull over and I hoped it wouldn't fly off before I could get some pics. I slowly got out of the car and just sat in front of it enjoying the view and taking pics.

After 5 mins. or so the eagle flew off behind the trees.
