There is an eagle cam situated at Fulton, IL; that has a trio of three bald eagles ... the territory is also threatened by two Great Horn Owls. These birds breed and nest February/March.

The nest is called the Lock and Damn 13 nest and the cams provides three different views of the nest and their territory.

It is my understanding that the USFWS provide these cams and they are apparently supported (not sure to what degree) or maintained by a Not for Profit group ... Friends of Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge.

Will definitely be very interesting to observe the trio of eagles nesting ... and certainly reminds me of the early days at the West End nest ... hope it all works out for them!

Thanks for the eagle cam link Debs. Smile
It asked me for a username and password so I went to their web page and learned "guest" is both username and password.

Debs, would you like to set up a thread for this nest? I'm not sure how many of us will be able to watch and report - but it is an unusual situation with the three adults (or at least we think it's unusual - as more and more nests are getting cams and/or regular observers - we're learning lots of new things!).

Or I can set up a thread if you'd prefer.

Added -
I had been keeping an eye on this nest for my website and had the following on my "About the Nests" page - http://www.judyb-eagles.com/eagles/nest_info.htm:

According to records on the website, the pair has a mixed record. Their nest and eggs were destroyed by high winds in 2004 and 2005; one of the pair died in 2006 after flying into a powerline and the other adult abandoned the nest. A new pair formed and fledged 2 chicks in 2007, 3 in 2008, 1 in 2009, and 3 in 2010. They moved to a new nest in 2011, laid eggs but then abandoned the nest, and that tree blew down in June. They returned to their old nest in 2012 and laid two eggs which subsequently hatched, but the chicks were left alone for long periods of time, and both crawled near the edge and fell from the nest. As of fall 2012, they appear to have moved to a new nest, so they will not be online in 2013. 2013 turned out to be a good year for this nest - the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge were able to install a cam that provided a long-distance view of the nest, and reported that two eaglets fledged successfully. There were three adults seen in fall 2012, and on February 21, 2013, when they were incubating there were two adults on the nest and a third adult came and sat next to them - so there may have been a mate exchange - or this nest may be one of the rare three-adult nests. Hopefully they will be able to install a camera nearer the nest for 2014 - but it is a remote location so that may be a challenge. The pair had a new nest in 2014 - no cam and I didn't find any updates. And I didn't find updates for 2015 - but there is hope for a cam in 2016.

If you've seen any information for 2014 or 2015, I'd be interested in that - and I'll try to do a bit more checking this weekend.

Judyb Thanks ... i will definitely be watching this nest as time permits ... reminds me of the early days at West End with Wray, Dianna and Shenandoah then later Superman Wub It is my understanding that the Fulton trio have been together three seasons but there was no live cam to document it formally. I can set up the new thread ... and will report as often as i can but teaching and operating my own training business will keep me very busy too. Hopefully anyone watching will contribute to the thread.

Thanks, SunshineinSoFL! That looks like an interesting location and a nice view - and even a spare nest for flapping practice! I've tried the cam a few times and gotten an error message - maybe one of those things that won't be fixed until after the weekend. I'll be happy to set up a thread for this cam once I'm sure it's streaming - would you be interested in posting occasionally if there was a thread?
