Patriot returns to Turtle Bay to rejoin his eagle mate, Liberty

After nearly a month away from his nest, one of Redding’s beloved bald eagle couple returned to his mate on Friday, eagle watchers said.

Terri Lhuillier, of Friends of the Redding Eagles and author of a book on Liberty and Patriot, said Patriot was spotted at Turtle Bay Exploration Park. The bald eagle has shared a nest near the Highway 44 bridge with Liberty, his lifelong mate, since 2006.
