The Power of Two
It is interesting to watch the dynamics when there are two eaglets in the nest - as is the case this year for White Rock and Harrison Mills - and for Lafarge, though they have chosen to nest in a new location that doesn't have a cam. They compete a bit for food - but also push each other to their full potential.
And I'm thinking that's similar to what I and several other long-time supporters are hoping to do here - we are offering to match donations, up to a total of $1800, made in the next couple of days.
This is a critical time for donations - we need to raise at least $10,000 and probably closer to $20,000 by the end of June just to keep the cameras running until the eaglets fledge. This includes ongoing tech support costs of about $3500/month, plus a number of bills that are past due.
And we are hoping that all of you who enjoy watching the cams will pitch in and help us cover those costs.
Keeping with the theme of this post - we have two preferred ways for people to donate - CanadaHelps and PayPal. CanadaHelps is the best option for people in Canada - you'll get an acknowledgement of your donation plus an official Canadian tax donation receipt (HWF is an official "not-for-profit" in Canada) - and you don't need to be in Canada to use CanadaHelps! PayPal will also provide an immediate acknowledgement of your donation - and you don't need a PayPal account to donate - just a credit card. There is a 4% service charge for CanadaHelps and PayPal so if you can give a little extra, that would be great.
We have also arranged for someone to be in the office this Wednesday - so if you want to call in your donation, please do it on Wednesday, June 10! The number is 800-938-1114, and is toll-free in Canada and the United States.

Thanks to all who have already donated - and to all who help out in other ways. Our Forum Support Team, Zoomers, and Content Providers are all excellent - and all we really need to add to our all-volunteer team is a Fundraiser who knows as much about fundraising as the rest of us know about watching eagles and observing/reporting their activities and posting screenshots - if that might be you, please contact me or Karen Bills firstname.lastname@example.org
I know that Pan and Dora from the Lafarge pair's new nest on Pandora Street, Kilo and Lima from White Rock, and Driver and Putter from Harrison Mills join with me in asking you to help us to keep the cams streaming, and continue the cuteness! (And don't worry - I didn't forget Uno from Delta 3, our one solo eaglet this year - she or maybe he will be featured in my next post!)
