As you all probably know, the success of the eagle nest streaming video took us by surprise - and kept us hopping full time for the past 6 months just trying to keep up with the things that you and the rest of the world wanted to know.
As the nest season is winding down, we've been catching up on all the various projects that we've had on the back burner - mostly for want of time and people to do them. One of these is getting our systems set up so that you can share your favourite moments that you've caught from the live stream without putting them up on any of the various commercial video sites that don't pay us anything at all.
You can post them to our Photo Gallery area now.
Note: you must make sure the file names you are uploading don't have special characters in them like spaces. We're hosting this on a system that seems not to like that.
Note that both uploads require that you are logged in to this forum with a valid user ID

The hosting and creation of the eagle nest experience has been a costly one, and income did not even come close to covering the costs. Some of that was our fault for simply not being ready and being slow in getting things like advertising and T-shirts and such available.
On the other hand, there are actually a lot of companies not associated with the nest site that are in fact making money - they're hosting your videos "for free" and showing their own ads and making their own income without having had to pay to create or host the original.
We now have at least a basic place for you to put your videos - here on this forum site in the Media Gallery which has now been set to allow logged-on members to upload videos up to 25 Mbytes long to our server and allow people to watch them. At this time there are no comments available, but we're working on that too.
Please voluntarily bring your videos over to this site as soon as you can. We're going to be contacting the various commercial sites in the near future to tell them that we own the copyright on the original video and that they must be taken down. We purposely did not do this until we had a place you could put them here.
Please tell all your friends and associates and forum people that we're doing this and they should get their videos over to here as quickly as possible.
Note that we'll be moving the videos and archive to a new site soon - as soon as it is ready. In the mean time, please put them here. You won't have to do anything to move them - we'll do that.
Thanks to all of you - you have created some of the most moving and interesting clips we've seen. Now let's get them earning some money for the eagles so we can continue.
If you have stories and/or photos separate from the above videos, please know that you can use the "Contribute" button at the top of the page to send them to us so we can post them here - this can include up to 15 photos, and if you have more we can likely make arrangements for them. These contributions are moderated, so they don't immediately show up. If you think we're taking too long, please let us know.
Comment on Copyright:
Update: To those of you who have commented on our wanting to express our copyright rights, you should understand that aside from commercial use, you really have our blessing if you use and/or modify the videos or captures. We've made the decision (a long time ago) to embrace the Creative Commons licensing scheme - and as you'll note at the bottom of all the pages here, we license the content here under the "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 license"
What does that mean? Well, if you take a look at the Creative Commons site you'll find that it means you can copy things here (including the videos) and make derivative works (like the "Couch Potato" picture of 'Lil that I love so much) but you just can't make money from them - only pass them on "for noncommercial uses" which means you can't post them anywhere that makes money from their viewing.
One other thing - as the original copyright holders, we can license them to you for one purpose, and to others for another, and use them ouselves for yet another - in this case, by showing them with advertising to support you seeing more such videos in the future.
