Bald Eagle Press Coverage -Worldwide?

The Hornby Island Live Cam has received Worldwide Press Coverage !

World Press Coverage -- "Phenomenal! -- Awesome! -- Incredible!!"

"But, Oprah, the eagles need YOU!"

Since our LIVE CAM of the Hornby Island Bald Eagle nesting project got launched a few days ago --- we and the eagles are all flying!!

We appreciate the TV, radio and newspaper coverage -- it has been overwhelming. So re-affirming.

The Canadian media people have been unprecedented in their support. It seems that entire production/editorial offices ares watching our eagles. They have become part of our "Eagle Addiction Club" Hmm!!

Oprah, we need you!

If Oprah can rescue America from its addictions, can she help further with the education and enlightenment of the masses on "Environment Awareness"? Slimmer, healthier and debtfree Americans is a hell of a good start -- but it can't be maintained without a healthy sustainable environment in which they have to live. Oprah, the intimacy and the magic of these birds is captivating. Please assist in bringing this awareness of Eagles hatching, Orcas cavorting and White Spirit Bears spiriting! to the public. If somebody knows how to reach this fine lady please do so on my behalf.

When I personally asked last week on this web site about needing some technical assistance -- a fine MS executive jumped forward -- and that help will be apparent next week.

Oprah we need you! I need you to tell the world.

What happens if the Americans find out about our secret stash of Bald Eagles along the British Columbia coast? It's their national emblem that we are showing to the world! Actually a few million hits have come in from the US. In truth most hits have come in from the US so I am just pulling their leg. But what would happen if Oprah or Letterman or the main broadcast channels CBC--CBS--ABC--NBC-CNN--FOX etc etc became fans? Could this contribute to reducing the shooting of eagles for their feathers, protecting crutial nest trees from the chainsaws so there is a place for them to nest, reducing contamination of their and our food supply with poisons? I hope so.

What if they frequently referred to the incredible gentlyness of seeing the male exchange incubation duties with his wife, the hatching of the eggs -- due April 26 -30 -- the feeding details so intimately displayed or, or.. ! That is already happening on Canadian TV, other media offices, in hundreds of companies and thousands of homes. I understand many offices have 'pools' on the moment of hatching, the naming etc. Its all so exciting! The Bald Eagle is part of a good recovery story. We need to tell this story -- the good and the down sides -- of not being concerned.

Some coverage is so unexpected -- THE FORMOSAN Journal --main headlines, with color photos of our eagle!! Incredible! Why?

Last night on an international Canadian-Australlian news broadcast the Canadian host of Hemispheres Ian Hanomansing commented to his Australian co-host on how he had to get back to watching the Hornby Island eagles. On the CBC national evening coverage The Hour George Stroumboulopoulos, the irreverant host, -- had our eagles live on a monitor in the background on air -- so, he said,"...he didn't miss anything!" Our eagles are getting there!

I am setting up a Story Page where I would love to have you post (or send to us to post) notice of all publicity that our eagles get in your area -- Press, TV, Radio etc It will be an interesting record of what parts and segments of the country are interested in Bald Eagles. This site will be a "Press clippings" file of the media coverage our eagles get. Please checkout and contribute!

Maybe I will get a call from a sponsor who would like to be behind this?

Please send these clippings direct to the Story Comments or email to me:

Hi this is a question and a comment.I like to ask if people are really concerned over the states finding out about our egale? Why would they be a threat to this nest when they have thousands of them. I think they would be glad that we Canadians are protecting their Emblem so to speak.Mother Nature belongs to everyone.I've been to Kodiak Island where there are thousands of eagles.I think we do them and ourselves proud..Its a wonderfull adventure to be able to watch this Noble Bird hatch and take care of its young.

Neither Oprah or Letterman, or anyone else famous doesn't care nor will they get involved unless it's advantageous to them and their "pocket book".

There are two eagles in the nest but one is half the size not only because it is younger but because it is being left without food. It crys all day for food and is given none. The bigger one gets the food. I dont understand why the little one is not given food when calling all day for it. With so little food it will not survive. I cant keep watching this and listen to the little one cry for food like that and never get fed... everyday! This is too cruel and too sad to watch. Listening to the endless crys from the little one for food is just to heartwrenching.

Could it be possible for you to notify the morning news anchor Steve Darling of Global to announce that either one or the other or both eaglets fledged when they do from the Victoria/Sidney nest. It would be very nice to announce to the world that our eagles nest was successful and that we managed to fledge two young eaglets without any mishaps. To make up for the first eggs at Hornby Island that were baren.
